Naturally, many of us think of violence taken place between groups of people when fight is mentioned. And of course, it can be applied in this way; indicating an offensive and defensive reaction between two conflicting parties. The range of violence applied varies considerably however; from minor skirmishes to full blown wars.

Depending on the situation, timing and cause, the process can vary. It may have certain rules and regulations or may be unregulated completely. The regulated ones are the Wars among the nations involving the military oppositions from both sides. Often, those that arise due to small conflicts among individuals do not follow and rules or pattern. It is basically characterized by the violent actions and hurting each other physically.

Nowadays, a fight is most likely to be viewed as a sporting event; with many thousands of competitors and fans from across the world buying into it. In general terms, these are well regulated event, focusing on the professionalism of the individual fighters and their teams, rather than the inherent aggressive nature. There are many different types of course.

The Clinch style, as the name goes, means to combat by clinching the opponent. This type of a fight involves punches and kicks, and is mostly seen in the wrestling arts. They depend on the set of rules set in each game and cannot be used where not permitted. The players are warned and informed throughout the game where clinching is not allowed.

Ground fighting is a step on from the previous style; and is firmly rooted in the martial arts again. There are numerous techniques applied here, though the action quickly descends to ground combat from standing upright and remaining on the feet. Submissive tactics are often applied here.

In both forms however, it is important that the competitors remain close to each other and, this can cause other techniques such as joint locking and even biting to be introduced. Again, strong refereeing is needed here.

With stand up fighting, such as boxing for example, the opponents stand a distance apart from each other and exchange blows. However, in more extreme areas, kicking and so forth can also be incorporated.

These battles can at times get very bad; even in case of sports where there are the referees to control the sessions. They either warn each competitor with a signal or the referee will again restart the fight from a specific distance.
